Our Story
Darren and I met on Match.com back in 1999 and became early pioneers in internet dating. As we "talked" by email and phone, we discovered that we spoke each other's language, shared similar life dreams, and enjoyed enough differences between us to make it interesting. In the blending of our lives and talents, we see unlimited opportunity for contribution to those who are seeking growth. Together we explore a give-give relationship, where we devote ourselves first to know each other, then to give, not as each would be given to, but as the other wishes. This marriage model is the basis not only for our personal lives, but also our professional purpose.
During our courtship, we shared extensively with each other as we sought to determine our compatibility. And fell further and further in love as we discovered amazing similarities between us. We decided early on that it was our calling and our purpose to, in some small way, create a better world around us and encourage and train others to do the same.
My husband, the psychologist, has been thinking, researching, teaching, and sharing ideas about compatibility for years. In fact, it has been the creative focus of his career. I have been working with compatibility in the business arena all of my career - ever since I watched the power of a well matched partnership to accomplish great things. And conversely, the horrific ability of a mismatch to bring to a hault the best of business intentions.
This book is the result of our story. In the early portion of our relationship as we discovered that we had a shared purpose we knew, even then, that we wanted to write about it together. At one point, Darren wrote, “I want to not only write the book with you but to live the book with you. I want our marriage to demonstrate that love can last a lifetime growing ever richer. Let us not only talk it, but show that it can be a reality, and with it bring hope to many.” Our courtship, conversations, and dreams arose out of following the steps that we introduce to you in The Compatibity Code, the steps that I would like to guide you through.
